“That was...wow.” Is all she can manage, and Juliana laughs breathlessly, their foreheads pressed together as they work to catch their breath. Valentina opens her eyes and takes in the other woman. Her cheeks are flushed and her pupils huge, and now it’s Valentina’s turn to smirk as she hops off the counter, hands trailing down Juliana’s body as she turns them around until Juliana is the one backed up against the surface. 

“So, if that was your turn...does that mean it’s mine now?”

They giggled, Juliana’s arms wrapped around her waist, sliding up to her shoulders, and it was inevitable; as sure at the rhythm of the tides and the rise of the sun with her love, the moon. Valentina dipped her head, her eyes filled only with the warmth of Juliana’s eyes, the beautiful slope of her nose, and the gentle curve of her mouth.

While my eyes are directed to the television, my thoughts are only focused in one thing. One person, if I'm being more specific. It's funny to think that I've never thought I'd get to feel this bad for letting her go. I had the feeling that I was doing the right thing, that what I did was the best 

What Valentina does notice is how easily their lives become intertwined. It should worry her how natural it all feels, almost as if she’s accidentally stumbled into this vacant space she was always meant to occupy. It really should worry her. And it would, if she ever let herself think about it long enough.

Juliana came home unable to shake from her skin the sensation of having touched Valentina's, the scent of her perfume slipping through her nostrils until it nested in her head, the beating of her heart that slowed and increased its rhythm with each look, each gesture, every smile of hers.

And yes, Juliana liked girls, discovering and defending that had been part of the problem that had brought her life down, but what this particular woman awakened in her in so little time was too much and that scared her.
